No shadows in Kiev today ... overcast and no sun in sight. I hope that does't mean more winter .... brrrrr
So, today we got a chance for a little freedom as we ventured outside the orphanage and walked to a store nearby. Lori accompanied us today, and we got in some more conversation, which was good. John impressed me twice today as the older brother. First by prompting some conflict resolution to his brother, that he go take care of, which he did. Secondly, as Kevin didn't bring his heavy coat on our walk, he prompted me and Jenn to walk with our arms around him to keep him warm on our trip back. He is really fitting the rold of big brother well. I remember David West writing about taking that position of Dad, and explaining to his son to let him be the caregiver. I wonder if I will need to at some point have a similar discussion. John's compassion naturally flows to caring for others, but he has yet to let me care for him, other than provide some snacks and and some kievstar. I long to let him know that he has a Papa, and doesn't have to be burdened with the weight of the world on his shoulders by himself anymore. I long even more to tell him that Jesus is there to and doesn't give us a load we cannot handle through His strength.
We had a good time walking, talking, picture taking, giving Kevin a piggy back ride, and hurrying back for the 5pm deadline. Tomorrow will be the first outing we will take and we are all looking forward to it. In fact, I am cutting this short soe we can head to bed since its already 10pm and we are to be at the Orphanage in 12 hours to pick them up.
So goodnight our faithful readers. We hope you enjoy the few pics of today, and we will try and post tomorrow before our train ride at 8pm our time. We love you all!
Youth and leaders at Olivet, looking forward to a good report from you on Student Life Tour.
email us and let us know how it went.
Until He is known.
